Meet capriole superstar Conversano Odaliska

KYALAMI – The South African Lipizzaner Centre introduces eight-year-old lipizzaner Conversano Odaliska to community members.

The South African Lipizzaners, based in Kyalami, wish to introduce locals to up-and-coming capriole superstar Conversano Odaliska.

This eight-year-old Lipizzaner is described by volunteer Gina Boxley as one of the most promising young horses at the centre.

Nicknamed Coco-Cheen, Boxley describes Conversano Odaliska as a horse who fools many a poor soul.

“He is an original trickster and loves to show off his athletic abilities for the airs above the ground to an unsuspecting student,” said Boxley.

“Conversano Odaliska is destined for greatness. His athleticism and sheer enthusiasm means capriole will be a major feature in many, many performances to come.”

Current rider Camilla Lamb described him as one of her heart horses.

“We have been together for quite a few years now and we have grown together. He is always up for the challenge – while attempting to teach him to piaffe in-hand, Karen and I discovered he had an incredible aptitude for not keeping all four legs on the ground,” said Lamb.

Lamb said that he is one of the best capriole horses ever, with a larger than life personality and strong will.

Lamb said, “My favourite is watching the new students’ relationships with him develop. At first, they think he is so sweet and he bats his eyelashes at them. Butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth. And then, they have the honour of riding him through Young Stallions! Needless to say, this quirky little horse has won and lost many hearts in his time, but he will always be in mine.”
