UPDATE: Douglasdale Police Station on lockdown due to a positive Covid-19 case, temporary station set up

DOUGLASDALE – Brigadier Vish Naidoo said a temporary station has been set up outside the police station to assist the community.

The Douglasdale Police Station is on lockdown after a person at the station tested positive for Covid-19.

Brigadier Vish Naidoo, national police spokesperson, said, “I can confirm one of our members at the Douglasdale Police Station has tested positive with the Covid-19 virus. This member was on detached duty out of the province and she returned to duty on 3 April.”

Naidoo said that the woman then fell sick between 3 and 6 April and went to get tested for the coronavirus. “The station was immediately informed and now the station has been evacuated for a decontamination process for all the necessary protocols to be followed.”

All the members who could have possibly been infected are undergoing screening and testing. Naidoo said they are happy all protocols have been followed in terms of ensuring the station was evacuated and decontaminated.

“In the meantime, service delivery at the station has not been compromised, a temporary station has been set up outside the station where the community can come in and make reports, lodge complaints and so forth.”
