Burst pipe in Fourways leaves residents without water for hours, again
FOURWAYS – Residents were left frustrated once again in Fourways and surrounding areas due to another burst water pipe.
A burst pipe on the corner of Witkoppen Road and William Nicol Drive has left many residents frustrated and angered of once again water issues in their area.
Ward 94 councillor David Foley was at the site of the burst water pipe which left Fourways Mall and surrounding areas without water for over 12 hours late in the afternoon on 22 March. Foley tweeted, “Water turned off at Montecasino impacting large parts of Fourways, Lonehill and Beverley to fix the water supply.”
Fourways Mall was aware of the water outage, their Facebook message read, “Dear shoppers, we are currently experiencing a centre-wide water outage due to a burst pipe. We do understand the implications of this in our current health situation and are working with Joburg Water and City of Joburg to repair the pipe.” Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, people need to wash their hands regularly.

Water has been turned on in the Fourways surrounds, it will take time for everyone to receive water as the system fills up, thank you for your patience.

Received reports in different areas of Fourways that water has returned. System is getting back to normal. Have asked Jhb water to verify all is well in the areas impacted. The morning is always a high demand time.

Fourways residents have frequently shared their frustrations of the water outages experienced in the area, which seem to happen every couple of weeks, some saying it happens every week.

I’m convinced the waterpipes in fourways are made of paper straws 😔

Why don't you just go to these areas and see what the heck is going on? Fourways ALWAYS has this water problem. DMing is not going to solve this at this crucial time of handwashing 40 times a day. Please Joburg Water!!!

The last massive water outage was just two weeks ago, where there was an emergency water shutdown after another water pipe burst in the area.
