Criminals target chain restaurant in Kyalami

KYALAMI – Three armed men targeted the RocoMamas Kyalami restaurant on 24 February, eventually making off with staff cell phones, liquor and R4 000 in cash.

On 24 February three armed robbers targeted the RocoMamas restaurant in Kyalami in an attempt to steal staff salaries.

According to Sergeant Matome Tlamela, who is the spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station, the incident occurred at about 8.30am at the restaurant which is situated at the Kyalami on Main Shopping Centre. Three men, all armed with firearms, entered the shop and held up seven RocoMamas employees at gunpoint.

“[The suspects] held up the employees and demanded the money [that the business uses] for salary payments,” Tlamela said.

“The employees told the suspects that their salaries are paid through banks [and not in cash].”

The suspects instead stole cell phones from two employees, as well as some of the restaurant’s liquor stock and about R4 000 in cash from the register.

No suspects have been arrested for the incident yet.
