All smiles for St Peter’s College as they celebrate their matric results

SUNNINGHILL – St Peter's College achieved a 100 per cent matric pass rate.


St Peter’s College is excited to announce that they have achieved a 100 per cent matric pass rate.

Headmaster Rui Morais said, “On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of St Peter’s College, it is both a privilege and an honour for me to congratulate the matric Class of 2019 on an outstanding set of results, which further reinforces our reputation for academic excellence.”

The matric class obtained a 95 per cent bachelor degree pass. Head of academics at St Peter’s College, Shelly Mathews said the academic changes they made last year seems to have paid off as learners excelled in the 2019 matric exams. The school received 190 distinctions and 234 bachelor passes.

Morais added, “Thank you to Shelly Matthews, the HODs and academic staff for the contribution you make on a daily basis which is vital to the success of our college. So in a very small way, I want to show my appreciation and thank these dedicated individuals, for all the time and effort that they devote in support of the college and our students. I recognise the unique role that they play in promoting and advocating quality education. St Peter’s College benefits every day from the dedicated energies and time devoted by the members of our academic staff.”

The top achievers were as follows:

  • Tsai-Yu Shih: 9 distinctions
  • Dane Groves: 8 distinctions
  • Olivia Mettler, Joshua Jandrell, Kosmas Joannou, Luke Leatherbarrow, Rohit Menon and Darren Piaray: 7 distinctions
  • Matthew Beekman, Keshin Bheema, Nicole Diepeveen, Marios Joannou and Shréyan Maharaj: 6 distinctions
  • Erin Lai Thom, Tanya Paul and Julia Schroeder: 5 distinctions
  • Kaitlin Banahan, Jordyn Nitch, Kerry Tucker and Kiara van Rooyen: 4 distinctions
  • Ben Borchers, Maria Legoinha, Kristine Mahony, Zanele Ngubane and Robert Walker: 3 distinctions.

Morais said, “We are extremely proud of our dux scholar, Olivia Mettler, who achieved a remarkable seven distinctions with an average of 92.4 per cent.

“I feel privileged to lead such an exciting and vibrant school, which offers great opportunities for our students. It is our goal to make every student succeed, by offering them the best possible opportunities to become confident, thoughtful young adults who are prepared for any future challenge, in an exciting and increasingly global world. Our staff provide a stimulating, exciting environment where everyone feels valued and safe and pupils can achieve their full potential as is evident by the 2019 results.”

He concluded, “Matriculants, you are our beacons of hope and the future of this country. As you enter university, college or the world of work, remember to always do your best as you forge ‘bravely into the future’.”
