Police raid a house in Paulshof

PAULSHOF – Former Public Safety MMC Michael Sun said police will investigate if any of the firearms are linked to other crimes.

Former Public Safety MMC Michael Sun said that on Wednesday, 11 December, a joint operation by the security services providers and support members took place at a residential complex in Paulshof.

Sun said Joburg Metro police K9 officers received information from crime intelligence about a male suspect that had been terrorising people living in the complex.

“They went and raided the suspect’s house and it was discovered that he not only had one but four illegal firearms and ammunition.”

The firearms seized included an illegal AK47, a .44 Magnum, a 9mm pistol, a shotgun and ammunition.

Sun said that the suspect was immediately arrested and the illegal firearms and ammunition were seized. He also added that the police will conduct an investigation to find out if any of the firearms the suspect had in his possession are linked to any other crimes.

The JMPD handed the suspect over to the South African Police Services.
