Self-care is king

PINESLOPES – At this month's women in business networking event, Leigh-Joy Mansel-Pleydell reminded attendees how important self-care is to a successful life and career.

Local female entrepreneurs recently gathered at Hirsch’s Fourways for their monthly women in a business networking event with guest speaker Leigh-Joy Mansel-Pleydell, a coach and counsellor who dares to speak up and speak out on topics that touch all of our lives and yet, are often still relegated to the darkest corners of societal and personal shame.

“Leigh’s infectious energy and deep commitment to the upliftment of people ensured a highly engaged and a transformed audience ready to step-up and step into their own personal power,” said Marjone Barnard, the public relations officer for the store.

The three pillars which she focused on were self-care, tribe-care and sacred-care. “It is crucial to deliberately take care of our mental, emotional and physical health. Through self-care you improve your mood and reduce anxiety,” she said before she went on to share some of her personal experiences, emphasising that one should not feel guilty to focus on self-care.

The networkers were given the opportunity to showcase their products and introduce themselves and their businesses.

This was followed by a lucky draw, networking, sharing of business cards and enjoying refreshments.
