Lonehill supports cupcakes for a cause

LONEHILL – It was a day of sweet success on 28 September when the National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer event at Lonehill Shopping Centre sold out all its sweet treats.

The Lonehill community came out in force to make a difference as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month wound down, buying hundreds of cupcakes in order to make a difference.

The Cupcakes of Hope non-profit company held their eighth annual National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer event on 28 September, which took place for the first time at Lonehill Shopping Centre this year.

The event was organised by resident Lizette Robertson who coordinated the efforts. The fundraiser was aimed at gathering donations for Cupcakes of Hope to distribute to the families of children battling the illness.

On the day, 88 malls and shopping centres across the country participated in the day, with volunteers selling cupcakes to the public.
