Siyajabula Soccer Freestyle Sports Development on the up

NOORDWYK – SSF Sports Development is ever on the rise and now boasts new teams.

Siyajabula Soccer Freestyle (SSF) Sports Development had cause to celebrate when its U14 side took a silver medal in a recent soccer tournament.

The sports club, which is based at Noordwyk Secondary School but plays its home league and cup matches at Safe-Hub Diepsloot, lost to Sundowns Football Club (a Diepsloot Satellite) on penalties in the final.

The tournament was hosted by The Angel Rock Project and Rand Central Local Football Association (RCLFA) in Diepsloot.

“It has been a good two years that our club has been around,” said coach, Fanie Moleli.

“We have more teams in the RCLFA leagues each year. Some of the players have never played soccer before but we have always held that it does not matter their background. They have always worked hard and done well.”

The club now boasts U9, U12, U14, U16, U19 boys and senior men’s soccer teams, as well as girls U11 and U16 netball teams.

Despite these age groups, children as young as three play at practices.

“Our culture is to promote a healthy life. Teams use positive encouragement for sport and also academics. We help some youngsters get sports bursaries at schools.”

Freestyle soccer is another aspect to the club, with players performing freestyle soccer tricks at gigs for organisations.

The new soccer season has kicked off and SSF looks ahead to the next weekend for its second round of fixtures.

Moleli invited anyone interested in the club to follow it at @SSF_Sports on Instagram and Facebook to find out more information. Alternatively, community members can contact him directly.
