Reddam House’s goalie is a keeper

REDDAM – Reddam house younger age group players defy the odds in the U19 Discovery High Schools Knockout Soccer Cup.

It was goalkeeper Tsolofelo Ramonyadiwa’s heroics that ensured Reddam House Helderfontein claimed a 1–0 victory in the first round of the Discovery High Schools Knockout Soccer Cup against Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge.

The tournament is for Johannesburg-based high schools and more than

1 000 footballers will participate, with preliminary rounds being contested in August and the finals taking place in September.

Reddam is taking part in the U19 category with a younger age group squad since the school only goes up to Grade 11. However, the boys of Reddam put up a fierce performance when they welcomed Trinityhouse at St George’s Park.

The game began at a frantic pace with both teams trying to get the upper hand but it was the hosts who took the lead just before the conclusion of the first half thanks to a Craig Mufudzi Goredema strike.

The second half saw both coaches introduce new players. Trinityhouse looked threatening on several occasions, however, 12-year-old Reddam keeper Tsolofelo Ramonyadiwa was having none of it with a superb showing between the sticks.

Speaking after the game Reddam coach Tanaka Manjengwa praised his team. “I think the boys did very well, they were brave,” he said.Trinityhouse Little Falls Warrior Sevens off to a winning start
