Parts of Fourways without water for five days

FOURWAYS – Some residents have said they have had no water for days, the latest water burst is at Waterford Estate has left surrounding areas with no water.


Johannesburg Water first notified Fourways residents of a burst pipe at Talavera Complex in Fourways on 19 July, repair work started on the 22 July but another water burst has occurred and parts of Fourways has had on and off water supply since. 

The latest water burst is at Waterford Estate Fourways, Joburg Water tweeted on 1 August that a contractor has been appointed to repair the 600mm main at the estate. The tweet read, “Work will be starting this evening, there is no estimated completion time at this stage.”

An update was given this morning, 2 August. The contractor has resumed the repairs and they hope completion will be in the late afternoon. “Water has been opened from the Diepsloot feed but not all affected areas will get water. Tanks are still available till repairs are complete.”

Some Fourways residents were unhappy by the response, tweeting that they have not had water for days, one resident said they have not had water for five days:
