The Discovery 947 Rhythm Run is a hit once again

KYALAMI – Spirits were higher than ever at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit for the annual run.

A whopping 9 000 people ran on the racing track at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit for this year’s Discovery 947 Rhythm Run. Crowds gathered from early in the afternoon on 25 May to run a speed lap before the main run kicked off after sunset. The main event featured a single lap (4.7km) and a double lap (9km) run.

The atmosphere was vibrant, helped by the excellent DJs on stage and a fun after-party after the run.

“The day has gone brilliantly,” said Alexia Poulos, head of events for Primedia Broadcasting. ” Joburgers want something different, they want something they can belong to, and when you are part of a running community or a health and fitness community what better event can you do it at than this family event where you can get your [Vitality] points and have a good time with your friends.”

Gladwin Mzazi, who was the first person to finish the speed lap, described the route as tough and hilly but fun. “It was not easy but I still enjoyed it,” he said. Read the full story on the back page of this week’s edition of the Fourways Review.
