Fourways Gardens’ Nikki Bush wins keynote speaker award

Nikki Bush, a motivational speaker and author who lives in Fourways Gardens, has become the first woman to be awarded the Speaker Hall of Fame Award in 13 April.

The award is presented by the Professional Speakers’ Association of Southern Africa each year and acknowledges iconic speakers who are experts in their fields. Bush was the first woman to receive the accolade in its 11-year history, which is only awarded to speakers who impact the world around them and derive at least 50 per cent of their income from keynote speaking. She is a well-known thought leader in parenting and education.

“I am deeply honoured, on behalf of all women speakers, to be the first woman keynote speaker to receive the Speakers Hall of Fame Award,” Bush said. “This recognition is not about settling where I am at. I see it as a call to raise the bar, to live up to it, and more.”

Bush hoped her achievement would inspire other women with outstanding minds, big hearts and the gift of speaking to enter the world of keynote speaking, which traditionally has been a male-dominated industry. “This is another way of putting women on the map as equal to their male counterparts.

“It will help raise the profile of women who change the world in their respective fields.”

Other winners of the award included Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Douglas Kruger and Dr Michael Mol.

Ross Saunders, the national president of the association said it was an honour to present Bush with the award. “She is a role model to many within the association and beyond,” said Saunders. “Receiving this award is both a phenomenal milestone for Nikki, but also an inspiration for speakers to follow in her footsteps. A truly remarkable woman, receiving a truly remarkable award.”
