Only 3 weeks left to apply for Sasol bursary programme

JOHANNESBURG – The comprehensive Sasol bursary programme is still open to top Mathematics and Science learners in Grade 12 - as well as post-graduate Engineering and Science students looking for a bursary for the 2020 academic year. Applications close on 30 April 2019.


Sasol has consistently been rated as an employer of choice in the chemical and energy sector by graduates and professionals.

With this Sasol Corporate Bursary programme, Grade 12 learners, undergraduates, and postgraduate recipients can expect considerable benefits such as access to financial and emotional support throughout their studies.

The comprehensive bursary offers:

  • 100 per cent payment for tuition, meals, accommodation, registration and exam fees
  • R12 000 for books and pocket money

Postgraduate students receive a monthly allowance of R10 000 for up to 24 months while they complete a Master’s degree and up to 36 months if they are doing a PhD. Bursary recipients will also have opportunities to do paid vacation work at Sasol to gain work experience and be part of the company’s Graduate Development Programme upon graduation.

“There is no much time left, so we are encouraging students to apply now,” said Monica Luwes, the manager of Graduate Centre at Sasol. “This is a golden opportunity for learners from all backgrounds. Our bursary programme is based on two vital pillars: education and skills development and uplifting the communities in which we operate. We want to see the minds of young South Africans shine, especially as they blaze trails into the future. These bursaries are part of a larger opportunity to shape motivated and career-driven employees.”

The Sasol bursary programme aims to support students studying B Eng or BSc Eng in various engineering disciplines, BSc in Chemistry and Accounting (CA route), or students interested in pursuing instrumentation, mining survey and mechanical or electrical engineering at a University of Technology. Applicants need to obtain 70 per cent for maths and science and 60 per cent for English to be considered.
