Nissan Easter Festival celebrates its 10th year [VIDEO]

KYALAMI – Running until 22 April, the festival is not only a playground for riders and equestrian lovers but the whole family too with lots of entertainment in store.

The Nissan Easter Festival is back for its 10th year and equestrian lovers are getting ready for the 10-day-long event set to begin on 13 April.

With amateur athletes and professionals making their way from neighbouring countries including Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Swaziland, this equestrian event makes for one not to be missed.

The first day of the festival kicks off with showing, dressage and equitation. Adding to the competition will be the children’s gymkhana, fancy dress and VIP hospitality that’ll no doubt host the who’s who of Joburg.

Running until 22 April, the festival is not only a playground for riders and equestrian lovers but the whole family too. You can expect easter egg hunts, horse parades, vehicle parades and even an outdoor grand prix.

“This show really does have something for everyone including the most enjoyable Nissan gymkhana games for the kids on the Easter Sunday together with a visit from the Easter bunny,” said show director, Heather Mpofu.

“There’s also the nail-biting Nissan six-bar competition where only time will tell if new records will be set this year round!

The kid’s area is free from 20–22 April with arts and crafts that’ll keep little creative minds busy for hours. Nissan will host their test drives with giveaways from 19–22 April.”

On Easter Monday, 22 April, one of the most prestigious titles to win is that of the Nissan SA Outdoor Grand Prix at 2pm. As per every year, the crowd can expect world-class performances between horse and rider – a display of equestrian excellence. Multiple winner of the Grand Prix, Barry Taylor said that anyone can take the title come 22 April.

“We are early on in the season and so some riders have struck form faster than others meaning that absolutely anyone can win in 3 weeks’ time,” he said.

“The capacity crowds though add a whole new dimension to the Grand Prix class and it really does come down to the horse and rider combination that can both stay focused and together.”
