Douglasdale community hosts a crime prevention night
DOUGLASDALE – The Douglasdale police continue to combat crime in the area with their crime awareness activities within the sector.
A crime prevention and awareness night took place last night, 2 April, on main and Witkoppen roads.
Sector commander, Captain Len Celliers, members of Douglasdale Police Station, CPF Sector 4, a neighbourhood watch group, community patrollers and security companies joined forces on the night.
The crime prevention operation was aimed at addressing armed robberies, common robberies and hijackings that have been taking place in the Douglasdale area.
The team is said to have spread across Douglasdale, slowly walking through moving traffic to interact with motorists and provided them with safety brochures.
“As always these operations serve an additional purpose of security in the area,” read the statement from the Douglasdale community policing forum.
The forum pleaded with motorists to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
