Update: One person killed in Bryanston collision

BRYANSTON – Traffic is heavily affected.


Update 12:00pm

Following the accident this morning at the corner of Main Road and Sloane Street, more information has come to light.

According to Ineke van Huyssteen, the spokesperson for ER24, a female pedestrian, believed to be in her 30s, sustained fatal injuries and another person sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision on the corners of Sloane Street and Main Road in Bryanston this morning.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 8am, they found another medical service already in attendance. Upon further assessment, they found a female pedestrian who had sustained fatal injuries.”

Van Huyssteen said the woman was declared dead on the scene and a passenger from one of the vehicle’s sustained minor injuries.

“It is believed that the two vehicles collided at the intersection before one of the vehicles collided with the pedestrian.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” said Van Huyssteen.

According to @TrafficSA on Twitter, there has been a collision on the corner of Main and Sloane roads in Bryanston involving six vehicles. 

There have been reports of injuries and fatalities, emergency management services has reportedly arrived on the scene.

Be advised that traffic has built up in all directions, and the corner of Main Road is backed up with traffic on the Lonehill side.
