Lonehill model makes big plans to fight animal cruelty in South Africa

LONEHILL – Lonehill learner makes moves in the modelling industry.

A learner of Crawford College Lonehill, Shanice Radhalal had a prosperous modelling year in 2018.

This comes after her recent crowning as the first princess at the Miss High School SA 2019 and second princess at Miss Teen Commonwealth beauty pageant.

Radhalal was one of the 15 finalists for Miss High School SA 2019 who made it difficult for the judges to reach a consensus as to who the top three winners should be. This saw her competing with confident young girls from across the country’s high schools at Rusty Hook stage in Honeydew on 1 December.

Miss Teen High SA aims at identifying bright, young individuals who will be ambassadors to represent high school learners in the country in various initiatives, with the main one being to support the Girl Power Foundation.

The pageant has over the years seen the rise of some of the finest young ladies in the country.

Being passionate about charity saw Radhalal previously being engaged in sponsors to build an animal clinic in Soweto for the Soweto Animal Rescue and Advisory Centre and has raised around R200 000 for this project to date.

She also hosted Christmas parties and has participated in the donation of clothing and food to the less fortunate.

“My dream is to facilitate change in the lives of both people and animals. I believe that it is vital for young models to become involved in charity work, thereby growing them not just as individuals, but as ambassadors of transformation.”

She was placed fourth amongst 160 countries in the commercial category and won the 2017 International Models and Talent Agency Commercial Model (IMTA) of the year along with an all-inclusive trip to New York to represent South Africa in July 2017.

“I encourage women to feel comfortable in their clothes, and not feel that attire perpetuates rape culture.

“I would like to use the power of the exposure I get to assist in educating the community regarding the prevention of animal cruelty in their community and the importance of pet sterilisation.”
