#CrimeBulletin: Here are six incidents reported in Sector 4 including Kyalami and Glenferness

MIDRAND – Here are the most recent crime instances reported to the Midrand Police from Sector 4.

 

Here are six crime incidents that have been reported to the Midrand Police Station between 28 November and 1 December. All incidents occurred in Sector 4 which includes Glenferness, Kyalami, Barbeque Downs and Blue Hills.

 

Man swindled by online seller

A case of fraud was reported on 28 November. A man living in Kyalami saw a vehicle advertised online and contacted the seller for more details. The two agreed that the buyer would transfer R4 900 electronically to the seller. After having made the payment, the men agreed to meet at a large shopping mall in the Midrand area to hand over the car but the seller never pitched. The buyer laid a charge of fraud against the seller.

Items stolen from car

A case of theft out of a motor vehicle was reported on 29 November. A woman parked her blue Hyundai at a shopping centre in the Kyalami area at about 6.30pm. When she returned two hours later, she found that one of her windows had been smashed and some of her belongings had been stolen from her car. A handbag containing R800 in cash and bank cards, makeup and sunglasses worth an estimated R16 000 were stolen. The case is still under investigation.

Dogs alert man to housebreaking

A case of housebreaking and theft was reported on 30 November. A resident living on Chattan Road in Glenferness was woken up at about 4am to the sound of his dogs barking. The man went outside to investigate and realised that his house had been burgled. A laptop and sunglasses worth an estimated R26 000 had been stolen.

Lynx Road home burgled

A case of housebreaking and theft was reported on 30 November. A man went to sleep at his home on Lynx Road having secured his doors and windows but when he awoke at about 4.30am he noticed that the lock on his gate to his property had been cut open and his garage lock had also been broken. Upon further investigation, he discovered that the window of his vehicle inside the garage had been smashed and his car radio worth an estimated R4 000 was missing.

Man assaulted by colleagues

A case of common assault was reported on 30 November. A man was working at a bottle store in Kyalami when one of his colleagues asked him to go get change from outside the shop. When the man returned with the change, a colleague punched him in the face while a second colleague assaulted him. The man managed to flee the store.

Ford stolen on Rose Road

A case of theft of a motor vehicle was reported on 1 December. A man parked his car, a white Ford Ranger, on Rose Road in the Riversands area, ensuring that all its doors and windows were secured before he left it. When he returned to the spot about three hours later he discovered that his vehicle, worth about R420 000, was no longer there. He reported it to the police.
