Crime awareness campaign for domestic workers and gardeners is a success

DOUGLASDALE – The campaign was aimed at educating the workers on crime safety tips and what to do should they be faced with a crime situation.

Douglasdale police officers hosted a crime awareness campaign for domestic workers and gardeners.

According to Douglasdale Police Station’s Captain Kit Lepheana, the campaign was aimed at educating the workers on crime safety tips and what to do should they be faced with a crime situation.

“We equipped the workers on crime safety tips to follow when at home and when they are out on the streets.

“In the pamphlets that we gave them, we spoke about the risks of abduction and kidnapping especially during the festive season when they are headed home.”

He added that the workers were also advised against carrying large amounts of money on them and to refrain from asking for help from anybody when at ATMs, but to rather ask the bank’s employees.

Lepheana also stressed the importance to the workers of contacting the police should they witness any suspicious activity in their area.
