Update: Two men shot after altercation in Kyalami

KYALAMI – There was a shooting at an events venue in the early hours of Sunday.

In earlier reports, the information originally received and published has been confirmed as inaccurate.

According to crime prevention officer at Midrand Police Station Captain Lionel Chetty, a shooting took place at an events venue in Kyalami on 12 August.

“An argument inside the venue erupted and one suspect walked to a vehicle to retrieve a gun,” said Chetty.

“He was seen walking back to the venue before shooting two young men. Although one suspect pulled the trigger, others were involved in the incident.”

A team was put together in the early hours of this morning as an operation commenced to find the suspect.

“We have apprehended the suspect and he is now at Midrand Police Station. The investigation is still ongoing.”

Earlier, 13 August, 12.36pm

Two men were left dead after an alleged altercation at a bar in Barbeque Downs, Kyalami in the early hours of 12 August.

According to Danny Maduray of Ria Sebetsa Security Services, the group of men were having a party and an argument emerged amongst them. “One guy then pulled out his gun and shot two men and then fled the scene.”

Maduray explained that the suspect was allegedly found this morning and apprehended by Midrand police.

Constable Thabiso Selowa of Midrand police confirmed Maduray’s allegations that the suspected was apprehended and will shortly provide Fourways Review with more information regarding this story.
