A motorcyclist has spoken about his ordeal after a taxi driver knocked him off his bike in Fourways.
The hit-and-run incident occurred on 22 July when the victim, Chris Palmer was on his way home from the shops at about 4pm.
He explained that as he was pulling into Cedar Road, a taxi cut him off. As he went around the taxi, another taxi drove across three lanes and stopped in front of him, knocking him off his motorcycle. “He stopped sideways across the road and I hit him on the side of the taxi,” said Palmer.
He added that luckily he was not going too fast and was wearing proper riding gear that prevented serious injury. Palmer said he was a bit bruised, his knee was still sore and he was limping.
“I tried to stop the driver to get his details to sort it out but he wouldn’t get out of his vehicle.”
He alleged that the driver tried to drive over him, his bike and an eyewitness, and tried to pepper-spray them as he left the scene of the accident.
“He shouldn’t be on the road and I don’t think he has a public transport license.”
Palmer said he had opened a case against the driver at the Douglasdale Police Station.
