The 1st Fourways Cubs make winter beanies for 35 children

FOURWAYS – The 1st Fourways Cubs learned how to use a loom when they made beanies for créche-aged children recently.

There were smiles all around as 35 children from a small crèche in Black Hawk Estate on 6 June were given beanies knitted by the Cubs from the 1st Fourways Scout Group.

“Our Cubs learned how to knit beanies on a loom in order to make a gift to help keep less-fortunate children warm this winter,” Pack Scouter Melanie Dawes explained. “It was wonderful to see the Cubs mastering a new skill and giving back to the community”.

Thirty-five children from the Black Hawk Estate créche receive the beanies, which were made on looms by the 1st Fourways Cubs.

Each Cub made at least one beanie and some enjoyed it so much they now have a new hobby.

The group is so grateful to Kismet Yarns at Deco Park who supplied the wool and looms, as this made the project cost-effective.
