Three children’s charities receive donations thanks to the Fourways community

FOURWAYS – The Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club and Pam Golding Properties have come out in support of children by donating bags of toys and clothing to organisations in need.

Thanks to the combined hard work of Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club and Pam Golding Properties, three children’s charities received donations of toys and clothes on 11 June.

The two organisations came together in April to organise a community Easter Egg Hunt at Norscot Manor which was free to the public. Attendees were welcome to bring donations of old clothes, toys and non-perishable foods to the event which would then be given to those in need.

On 11 June three charities – Cotlands, Hearts of Hope and the Teddy Bear Clinic – were invited back to Norscot to receive their donations.

“A lot of the donations came from the event in April,” explained Barbara Brownbill of the Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club. “The organisations will receive three or four bags each of donations from us today.

“It’s been heartening to see both the quality and quantity of donations, people have been magnificent.”

The donations are of toys and clothes for children of varying ages.

Alistair Dempster, an agent of Pam Golding Properties in Fourways, said that the event hosted in April was the first that the company had held in the area.

“We’re hoping to continue to do charity events on a yearly basis,” said Dempster. “It feels great [to be here for the handover] and we really appreciate the support from the residents.”

Dempster added that to find out about Pam Golding’s future outreach in the community, the public was welcome to follow the company’s Douglasdale Facebook page.

Representatives from all three organisations arrived on the day to collect their donations and say thank you to Amanda Bossenger and Melony Zomero on behalf of Cotlands, which focuses on early learning for childhood development. Deborah van Dongen attended on behalf of Hearts of Hope, which provides a safe home for vulnerable children, and Dalene Bishop for the Teddy Bear Clinic, which offers support to abused children and their families.
