Run to the rhythm of the beat

KYALAMI – Energy levels were unending at the Rhythm Run at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

One way of keeping warm on a cold winter’s night is by going for a high energy run on a race track, followed by dancing the night away at a pumping after-party.

The Discovery/947 Rhythm Run saw thousands of Joburgers fill up the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on the evening of 2 June.

As the sun set on a gorgeous Joburg skyline, the runners kept themselves warm by running 4.7km (one lap) around the circuit or about 9km (two laps), all the while enjoying the rhythm of seven awesome DJs.

It was up to DJs Kent, Chriss Beatz, Gavin ‘Vin’ Deysel, Alex Caige, Ayanda MVP, Zweli Mbhele and MacG to keep the vibe alive, and they did it well.

As the runners came o the finish line, some opted to change into warmer clothes and then enjoy a drink and meal with friends, while others hit the dance floor straight away.

“It was the first time we ran this,” said Mlungisi Mabuza who ran with his friend Mpho Makhubo.

“The first kilometre was tough and hilly but the rest was a breeze.”

They said it was amazing how the run brought people of different backgrounds together to have a good time.

Carla Hamilton shared a drink with her husband and two friends after completing their first Rhythm Run.

The contagious vibe, excellent music and sense of team spirit made the night one to remember for her.

Sisanda Mponzo and John Moganedi said the vibe was so awesome they did not feel like they were even exercising, and they will definitely be back next year.
