Midrand police honour the efforts of community patrollers

MIDRAND – Midrand police awarded certificates to 29 community patrollers for their commitment to fighting crime.

Midrand Police Station held a certificate awards ceremony on 5 February led by Station Commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso.

About 29 community patrollers were honoured for their hard work.

Midrand police spokesperson Matome Tlamela said the same group of people were utilised during crime-fighting initiatives at the different malls and shopping centres in Midrand during the festive season.

“The police have many projects planned for the year for the betterment of the community and will need more hands on the ground, therefore all these patrollers will continue being of good service to the station and the community,” Tsotsotso added.

“The contribution is noticed and is appreciated by the Midrand police management.

“Robberies and house break-ins are on a spike in Noordwyk. Distribution of pamphlets and joint operations with the national traffic police, Metro police, security companies, Community Policing Forum and other stakeholders will solve crime in that area.”
