A suspect (26) will appear in Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
According to Douglasdale Police Station Commander, Brigadier Samuel Thambo, the police were patrolling in Douglasdale when they came across two suspicious-looking men.
“When the police stopped the vehicle in order to search them, one suspect ran away. The police managed to stop and search the other suspect,” Thambo said.
He said a 9mm pistol and one live round were found in his possession. “The suspect failed to produce the licence for the firearm and was arrested. Police investigations to this case are ongoing.”
Thambo appealed to community members to report criminal activities in their area.
