72 Dainfern College Class of 2017 matrics receive a 100 per cent pass rate

DAINFERN – Here are the fantastic matric results of Dainfern College.

The Dainfern College’s matric class of 2017 achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, making it 17 consecutive years of no failures for the school.

The 72 matrics received a 100 per cent access to tertiary studies, a 93 per cent university exemption (67 out of 72 students qualify to attend university) and 100 subject distinctions with an average of 1.4 distinctions per matriculant.

The school principal, Matthew Davies said, “We are exceptionally proud of the results which are a testament to the dedication of the students who demonstrated a strong and disciplined work ethic. They are a tribute to the values that Dainfern College has instilled in them.”

The school’s top candidates, including advanced placement (AP) subjects, are:

  • Two students with seven distinctions,
  • One student with six distinctions
  • Four students with five distinctions and
  • Two students with four distinctions.

The top achievers:
1. Christopher Giannopoulos obtained seven distinctions: accounting, Afrikaans, business studies, English, geography, life orientation, mathematics.
2. Sandee Oster achieved seven distinctions: dramatic arts, English, German, history, life orientation, life sciences, mathematical literacy
3. Leigh Burnard obtained six distinctions: Afrikaans, business Studies, English, life oientation, life sciences, mathematics.
4. Zoe Browne received five distinctions: accounting, English, life orientation, life sciences,mathematics and top 1 per cent of IEB for Life Orientation.
5. Waldo Buitendag achieved five distinctions: Afrikaans, engineering graphics and design, information technology, life orientation, mathematics.
6. Nicole Scott achieved five distinctions: English, history, information technology, life orientation, mathematics.
7. João Almeida Machado achieved five distinctions: engineering graphics and design, information technology, life orientation, mathematics, physical sciences.
8. Nicole Harris achieved four distinctions: geography, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics.
9. Brandon Robinson achieved four distinctions: engineering, graphics and design, information technology, life orientation, mathematics.
10. Andile Ndlovu achieved three distinctions: accounting, life orientation, life sciences.
11. Mark Pettitt obtained three distinctions: geography, life orientation, music.
12. Andréa Lemmer obtained three distinctions: Afrikaans, geography, life orientation.
13. Khwezi Ndlovu achieved three distinctions: business studies, life orientation, mathematics.
14. Kelsey Blanchard achieved three distinctions: accounting, life orientation, life sciences.

Davies said, “Our thanks go to the fantastic teachers who have taught, mentored and supported these young men and women through their journey at Dainfern College. Our further thanks and congratulations to the families who have walked this journey with them.”

He concluded that the school has enjoyed a strong and proud history of matric success over the past 17 years. “The class of 2017 has continued this proud tradition. We congratulate this year’s matrics on achieving this significant milestone, and we wish each of them continued success,” Davies concluded.
