ICYMI: Witkoppen Road closure postponed

FOURWAYS – Construction work has been delayed due to the heavy rainfall in and around the Fourways area recently.

The closure of Witkoppen Road, between William Nicol Drive and Cedar Road, planned for this weekend (14 and 15 October) is no longer taking place.

In official communications from Jodan Construction, the company that is completing the work in the area, it was stated that construction work has been delayed due to the heavy rainfall in and around the Fourways area during the past week.

The scheduled closures during the month of October were put in place so that workers could safely dismantle the temporary scaffolding that had been used to construct the bridge over Witkoppen Road.

The company will inform residents of the new date of these planned closures as soon as it is able to.

Jodan also wished to inform residents in the area that sections of Cedar Road at both the Valley Road and Cedar Boulevard intersections were due to be paved on 16 and 17 October, which would be the final phase of work on Cedar Road.

All lanes on Cedar Road should be open by Thursday, 19 October, the company said.

“Access to the Broadacres Shopping Centre [at the corner of Cedar and Valley roads] will still be available during this time,” the communication read.

Jodan Construction also wanted to thank motorists for their patience during the road upgrades.
