Schoolchildren see some of the best art created in the last 100 years
GLENFERNESS – Visual studies children of Cedarwood School recently had the chance to see some of the most famous artwork of the last century when they visited the Andy Warhol exhibition at the Wits Art Museum.
What do tins of soup, boxing great Muhammed Ali, flowers, Santa Claus, an endangered panda and Albert Einstein have in common?
They are all subjects of silk screen artworks created by pop culture icon Andy Warhol.
On 18 August, excited visual arts children of Cedarwood School in Glenferness, along with three of their teachers, visited the Wits Art Museum where an exhibition of Warhol’s work, Andy Warhol Unscreened is currently on display.

The visitors admired both iconic and less familiar works by the American artist, and also learnt more about what made the late Warhol so influential in the art world.
The Andy Warhol Unscreened exhibition will be open to the public until 8 October and entrance is free.
