Monte Pollino goes up in flames

FOURWAYS – House burns down in the Fourways area and emergency services from Diepsloot, Florida and Roodepoort lend a helping hand.

 

On 11 June in Monte Pollino Beverley AH complex, a double storey house caught alight.

The South African Police Services, fire units, ambulance and the Community Police Forum (CPF) were alerted.

The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. Severe damage has been done to the house as the entire roof collapsed. The fire started at around 10.30pm and emergency services declared the area safe, just after midnight.

Jean Berdou, chairperson for the Douglasdale CPF said there were no fatalities and that the residents were evacuated safely, although it is not clear where the residents will live or what will happen to them.

“Emergency services from Diepsloot, Florida and Roodepoort were at the scene and a water tanker was provided.” said Berdou. He explained that an investigator will inspect the house and an investigation will be carried out.
