Lonehill’s very own young piano stars sparkle at regional competition

LONEHILL – Young musicians win big at the recent Kids with Talent regional competition.

Three local, young and budding pianists excelled at the Kids with Talent regional competition held at Horizon Primary School in Roodepoort on 29 April.

Brothers Malan and Naudé du Plessis, both who attend Crawford Preparatory School in Lonehill, shared the podium with their fellow music star Lisa Minnaar, who attends Van Riebeeck Park Primary.

For the 11 to 12 years category for classical piano, Malan was awarded first place. He was also awarded a golden ticket on the day which was given to participants who are deemed outstanding at the event and will guarantee him a place in the competition finals due to take place from 18 to 22 July.

Both Naudé and Minnaar were also invited to the competition final.

“We are very proud of our students’ excellent achievements,” said Chantie Minnaar, Lisa’s mother and a piano teacher who works with all three children at Star Bright.

“And we wish them all the best with the preparations for the [upcoming] finals!”
