Celebrating a mother’s love and appreciating all that she does were the order of the day as Lonehill Preparatory School and Lonehill Nursery children gave love and appreciation to their mothers on 12 May.

In commemoration of Mother’s Day, the children and their mothers made sweet tea cups with ‘Mommy and me’ handprints.

The event had moms enjoying a special breakfast with their children as they were welcomed with singing from both the nursery school and preparatory school children.

Skyler Naidoo (9), along with music teacher Antoinette Reinecke on piano, led the preparatory pupils in singing Celine Dion’s Because you loved me.

Meagan Rootman, one of the mothers who attended the event said, “It takes someone really brave to be a mother, someone strong to raise a child and someone special to love someone more than herself. Thank you, Lonehill Preparatory for honouring our bravery and strength and making us feel so special as mothers.”

Aminah Makhetha (7) and her mother Mothei enjoy being creative together.

Skyler’s mother Samantha said the Mother’s Day celebration at Lonehill Prep was a very special, emotional and momentous occasion for her. “I want to thank all the teachers and everyone involved for all the love and hard work put into making the celebration a truly spectacular one. I loved my goodie bag and especially loved reading what Skyler had to say in the Q and A about me,” Naidoo said.
