Crawford Lonehill Pre-Primary School staff members were approached by the women of the Merrowdown Charity Group with hand-knitted bunnies which needed to be sold to raise funds for the Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children.
The group started as a group of women who gathered to knit for underprivileged children in 2008 and gradually increased its activities over the years which now include: Christmas stalls, display and sale of handcrafted goods, fashion shows and more.
With a goal set at R10 000, the school sold 200 hand-knitted bunnies for R50 each.

The bunnies were sold out in two days and due to popular demand from the schoolchildren, 30 more bunnies were ordered from the group.
After all the bunnies were sold, a total amount of R11 500 was raised from the initiative and all proceedings went to the Teddy Bear Clinic.
The donor liaison officer of the Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children, Dalene Bishop, was then invited on 30 March to the new Crawford Lonehill Pre-Primary premises where the school handed over the cheque.
