Gearing up for the SA Bike Festival at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit

KYALAMI – This is the only opportunity on the motorcycle events calendar where the public can test ride a variety of makes and models on offer.

There are just 10 weeks to go to the South Africa Bike Festival (26 to 28 May) and enthusiasts will have many highlights to look forward to.

One of these is the circuit test ride which will take place around the legendary Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. This activity is back by popular demand and is a momentous collaboration with the best manufacturers in South Africa showcasing more than 50 of the latest and greatest models of the year.

This is the only opportunity in the motorcycle events calendar where the public can test ride the various models on offer, with guidance and instruction by ambassadors of the participating brands.

The organisers are proud to announce the return of the firm favourites BMW Motorrad, Indian Motorcycles, KTM, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and Harley-Davidson. They look forward to welcoming, for the first time, the Can-Am Spyder, as well as a new motorcycle brand, just landed in South Africa, Zontes Motorcycles, bringing with them the entry level Zonte Phantom S250 which visitors can take for a spin around the track.

Honda will be using the festival to launch the much-anticipated CBR 1000 RR Fireblade. After the success and excitement around last year’s rides, the organisers have announced that there are more time-slots than last year. All rides will be marshalled and run safely by Dirk du Plooy’s TD Agencies Superbike School.

Launch models and those likely to sell out first include KTM’s 1290 Super Duke R, Super Duke 390 and an all-new Adventure Range.

Riaan Neveling, marketing manager at KTM SA said, “We had an amazing experience watching some of the 20 000 plus visitors try, test and ride our KTM range around the newly refurbished circuit for the first time last year. We look forward to an even bigger and more exciting festival in 2017.”

This year KTM are also hosting South Africa’s hero from the 2017 Dakar, Joey Evans, in their pit garage. Evans, who was rendered a paraplegic less than 10 years ago, is the only South African biker to finish the Dakar, achieving his dream with the motto, ‘I did not come this far to only come this far’, displayed on his bike.
