New Rotary Club comes to Fourways

FOURWAYS – Rotary Club in Fourways is now at an appropriate address, find out why.

Fourways Main Reef Rotary Club is finally here and has found a home at Norscot Manor’s national heritage venue in Penguin Drive – which suites Rotary as they, themselves, are 112 years old.

They club meets every Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm. A Rotarian is a volunteer who looks at the interest of less fortunate people all over the world.

Rotary is a non-political, non-religious, non-racial organisation open to men and women over the age of 18 who have specific skills and are prepared to donate some of their time to assist those in the community less fortunate, explained Stephen Margo, one of the founders of Main Reef Rotary Club.

“We have doctors, lawyers, accountants, IT specialists, paramedics, tradesmen, security practitioners and a host of other professions among our members,” Margo continued.

Projects that Rotary has been involved in are:

A blanket drive, which has just begun for this year and which, in previous years, donated over 30 000 blankets to the needy and a toy drive which takes place in November each year. There have been a number of educational projects, in particular our book project which, again, has donated and distributed over 1 million books to schools and libraries; a number of clean water projects, feeding schemes, and medical projects, which include the elimination of polio worldwide and vegetable gardens – the list is endless.

Rotary invites members of the community to join and to be part of the difference that they can make to someone’s life.
