Crawford Lonehill sees double

LONEHILL – Crawford Lonehill Pre-Primary has eight sets of twins at their school this year.

When Crawford Lonehill opened for the year on 18 January, staff and pupils at the pre-primary school could not be blamed for seeing double.

Between grades 0 and 000, eight sets of twins have been enrolled for the year.

In Grade 0, there are four sets of twins: Jaiden and Jashin Moodley, Ali and Nour Faour, Lihle and Lethu Majola and Xavier and Vittoria Nelson.

In Grade 00, there are two sets of twins: Joel and Joey Kim and Anika and Arush Vyas.

And in Grade 000, there are also two sets of twins: Cronje and Mila du Plessis, and Mia and Ian Swart.

According to Stats SA, about one in every 90 births will result in twins, either as identical twins [when both children develop from a single zygote (one-celled organism that is created when the sperm fertilizes an egg), that splits into two embryos], or paternal twins [when two separate ova are fertilised at the same time].
