2 critical after taxi flips on N1

A taxi crashed into a barrier and overturned in the slow lane of the N1 south in Rivonia this morning.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, ER24 paramedics and other emergency services arrived on the scene to find that some passengers had managed to get out of the overturned vehicle.

Paramedics began treating a total of 11 people, two of whom had sustained serious injuries. A critically-injured man and woman received advanced life support interventions and were transported to hospitals in the area for treatment.

“It is believed that the driver lost control of the taxi, causing it to crash into the barrier and overturn,” Meiring said.
