NORSCOT– St Stithians Girls' College dancer wins big at dance championships.

 

Norscot resident and dance enthusiast, Alexandra Mundell, scored big at the South African Dance Teachers Association (Sadta) dance freestyle championships at Lakes Hotel and Conference Centre in Benoni.

Mundell who is currently in Grade 11 at St Stithians Girls’ College, won both the U18 Solo and Slow titles at the championships.

“I am very delighted with my win as I worked extremely hard throughout my school exams with this competition in mind,” Mundell said.

She also won the overall champion of champion’s event which included all ages and both genders.

Mundell’s win marks the third year in a row that she has won the South African championships Slow dance title. She also placed third in the world in Slow dance at the World Championships in Blackpool, United Kingdom in June.

In the midst of year-end exams, Mundell passed her Sadta blue ribbon dance exams with distinction, obtaining 90 per cent for both Hustle and Rock n’ Roll, 97 per cent for Solo and 98 per cent for Slow dance.

Mundell’s success requires much discipline and dedication, as she trains on average, four to five hours a day, five days a week.
