Water interruptions for Lonehill and Diepsloot

LONEHILL – Read to find out when water interruptions will take place.

Joburg water has released a statement that there will be water interruptions in Lonehill Ext 12 on 20 October and in Diepsloot on 25 October.

According to Joburg Water, the time scheduled for the water interruptions for Lonehill will be from 9am until 3.30pm. The restoration period will take place from 4pm to 6pm.

Joburg Water management added that the water interruptions scheduled for Diepsloot and all its extensions will take place from midnight until 8pm and the restoration will take place from 8pm until midnight of 26 October.

Water tanks will be stationed at clinics, schools reception areas and shopping centres in the area.

Residents are reminded that Level 2 water restrictions are still in place and must be adhered to.

Level 2 Water restrictions according to Section 44 (3) of the Water Services Bylaw states that all consumers are forthwith compelled to:

  • Not to water and irrigate their gardens from 6am and 6pm every day.
  • Only hand-held hosepipes or bucket/watering cans are allowed outside these hours.
  • Not to fill their swimming pools with municipal water.
  • Not to use hosepipes to wash their cars and paved areas.

Joburg Water urged community members to not leave taps dripping, to take shallow baths and to use bathwater or grey water to water the garden. The utility also urged consumers to remain active partners in reducing the amount of water used in the area and to report any form of vandalism and theft of water infrastructure.

Residents are also encouraged to subscribe to Joburg Water’s website to receive SMS notification service alerts on planned or unplanned service interruptions.
