Spokesperson alerts community to business robberies

DOUGLASDALE – Follow these tips to protect your business from robberies.

Head of communications of Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Kgasoane, expressed great concern about the rise of business robberies and break-ins within the policing area.

Kgasoane advised business owners to consider the following tips:

  • Invest in realistic security measures such as reliable alarm systems with panic buttons and CCTV cameras.
  • Avoid holding large sums of money on the premises.
  • Bank large sums of money immediately.
  • Make use of a drop safe system and security companies where possible.
  • Constantly change driving routes when banking money.
  • Train employees to be observed and vigilant.
  • Never cash up in front of clients or employees and use a separate area or office to sort out cash.

“Help us to make your area safe as we believe that together we can eradicate crime in our area. It is also important for community members to report suspicious activity to the station,” Kgasoane said.
