Diners feast the night away with Courvoisier and J’Something

SANDTON– Read to see how an exclusive dinner series recreated the Paris Golden Age.

Special guests embraced an exclusive dinner series which recreated the Paris Golden Age at Signature Restaurant in Morningside Shopping Centre on 6 September.

This was thanks to the Lumière dinner-theatre as Courvoisier hosted the first of the Enlightened dinner series.

Lumière, a concept direct from Paris – and currently taking place in South Africa for the first time – introduced guests to the exuberance and enlightenment of Paris Golden Age.

“The evening was a true embodiment of the joie de vivre that defined La Belle Epoque and guests got swept up in every moment. I look forward to the next one,” the host of the evening, Joao da Fonseca, also known as J’Something from popular musical group Mi Casa, expressed.

The guests journeyed back in time to an era that belonged to Picasso, Matisse and Coco Chanel – complete with can-can dancers, a theatrical experience by Da Fonseca, and a decadent menu which was perfectly paired with the renowned cognac.

Courvoisier, known as the drink of choice at the Eiffel Tower’s Grand opening in 1889, was integral to the Lumière evening that unveiled the Eiffel Tower and lit up the world’s imagination to what was possible.

Da Fonseca and renowned executive chef, Siya Kobo’s exclusive six-course menu accompanied by Courvoisier cognacs and cocktails offered gastronomical delights including mushroom consomme, duck l’orange and beef bordelaise, paired with Courvoisier’s VS, VSOP and XO marques.

“Partnering delicious dishes with the different marques of Courvoisier Cognac was an exciting opportunity and I enjoyed working with J’Something, who is as great a chef as he is an entertainer,” executive chef, Siya Koba said.

Fine diners who missed the Enlightened dinner series at Signature Restaurant will be able to attend the second and last Lumière evening taking place on 22 September at Nineteen Restaurant in Steyn City.

Courvoisier will be awarding both venues with an ‘Enlightened’ plaque signed by Da Fonseca to signify their participation in the extraordinary evening.

The event was attended by celebrities Masego ‘Maps’ Maponyane, Boity Thulo, Hulisani Ravele and Seline van der Wat as well as media and business owners, which added to the glamour and exclusivity of the evening.

The renowned cognac, together with the exclusive menu will now be available at Signature Restaurant for patrons to enjoy.

Tickets are available from Webtickets for the final exclusive dinner with Da Fonseca at Steyn City.
