13-year-old Equestrian champ

FOURWAYS– Read to see where a young equestrian champion will be competing next.

Fourways resident, Simone Nish is set to compete in the FEI Children’s International Championship taking place in Mexico on 16 to 22 January next year.

The 13-year-old expressed that she is thrilled that her own horse, Saratoga Magic – which is stabled at the Kincardine Equestrian Centre – will be competing with her.

Nish started competing in equestrian competitions at nine years of age when she entered the Gauteng and South African championships for her age group. She said her love of horse riding stems from being around horses, attending pony camps and her mother who is also a rider.

“I recently competed in the FEI Showjumping Championships held at Kyalami Equestrian Park, and in my team event I came second overall, while in the individual event I came first in the 1.20m competition,” she said. The win gained Nish an invited entry into the international FEI Children’s International Championship.
