The need for physical activity in schools is becoming more and more evident and physical literacy has become the new buzzword around schools.
Last week, teachers from Broadacres Academy arranged an outing for their three-year-old pupils to the Broadacres Virgin Active gym for some fun activities and to expose them to something out of the ordinary. The staff at the gym were very accommodating and the children had a wonderful time with their teachers.
Dylan Cavanagh one of the owners of Broadacres Academy said, “We believe that physical literacy is critical for the development of every child’s gross motor skills. We enlist the services of experts in their field to do a variety of activities with the children on a weekly basis.”
He added that the school would continue to treat physical literacy as a priority, ensuring that their pupils have a headstart with their development, giving them an advantage when they begin competitive sports. “As our pupils grow into Grade 2 next year, we will be developing our sporting facilities this year, starting with a new field to accommodate our growing numbers for next year. We are very excited about the transformation of our school and what the future holds,” he said.
