Christmas in June for Sloane passersby

FOURWAYS - Workers rushing to work treated to a breakfast of Chelsea buns.

Construction workers and passersby rushing to work in the wee hours of 3 June had an Easter treat in June.

The Serviam (I will serve) Committee at Brescia House School sweetened the day for others by handing out freshly-baked Chelsea buns.

The committee and fellow pupils manned the roadside with tables and boxes packed with these treats smothered in a sweet glaze. They handed out these delicious bites to passing pedestrians who could not hide their appreciation and excitement as they accepted the free Friday snack.

“It was a beautiful way to start the morning and it put a big smile on many faces,” said the marketing manager of Brescia House School, Helga Bishop.

“A special thanks also goes out to the Pick n Pay on Sloane, whose staff came in at 3am to bake the Chelsea buns, and to the Brescia House School girls who were up early to hand them out on Sloane Street.”
