Patient exposed to insecticide moved to Garden City Hospital

DIEPSLOOT - Netcare can't confirm if man exposed to insecticide is alive or dead

 

The unidentified 27-year-old man who was picked up unconscious on 26 May in Mnandi Street near Diepsloot after being exposed to the pesticide, organophosphate has been moved to Garden City Hospital.

The man was airlifted to Johannesburg Hospital by Netcare911.

Fourways Review failed to establish the current condition of the patient who was reported as fighting for his life.

Media liaison officer for the rescue service, Athlenda Mathe could not confirm if the patient was still alive.

“I can’t give out that information because of the patient confidentiality clause,” said Mathe.

Garden City hospital manager Joe Sandows did not respond to questions e-mailed to him by this publication, and Sandows’ secretary declined to shed light on the condition of the patient. “Only the manager can entertain such inquiries,” she said.

The patient was found next to warehouses on Mnandi Street.

Members of the public are advised to stay away from the street while authorities try and establish the source of the toxin.
