WATCH: Mthande song aims to spread love and unity

STEYN CITY – Musa Sukwene talks about his latest song and the importance of love in our lives.

Love, respect and motivation were the words used to describe 2013’s Idols winner, Musa Sukwene’s latest song, titled Mthande featuring renowned music producer, Robbie Malinga.

In a sit-down interview at their exclusive video shoot in Steyn City on 24 May, Sukwene and Malinga explained the importance of the song during the country’s political woes, the largely lack of respect for young women and the rise in the divorce rate, as they believe that the song will inspire and help bring unity to the country.

“This song helps us to remember who we are as people and reminds us what love still is – even with the recent financial crisis, racial issues and the increase in poverty. We believe that it helps to instil the love back because we, as human beings, are born of love,” Sukwene said.

Mthande, which means ‘love her’, is an Afro-pop, romantic ballad that encourages men to honour, love and respect women as the video showcases a young romantic couple filmed at Steyn City. They are shown enjoying a picnic and outdoor retreats while the man tries his best to spoil his woman.

Malinga, who composed the song said, “For a change we need to spread positive messages, messages that exude love towards one another and being faithful to your partner. We hope to remind and inspire many with this song.”

Sukwene and Malinga encouraged young up-and-coming artists to compose and write songs that they believe will make a difference in the country and not to be afraid to express themselves through music.

The song can be downloaded from iTunes and Google Play.
