Schools urged to take part in School SleepOut

BRAAMFONTEIN – Schools invited to rise to the challenge with School SleepOut

With nine weeks to go to the 2016 Sun International CEO SleepOut in Braamfontein, schools across the country are challenged to take part in the global challenge to raise funds for charity.

The SleepOut will take place at the Nelson Mandela Bridge on 28 July and will see schools, companies and tertiary institutions invited to take part in the initiative by hosting their own support SleepOut events at their premises.

The School SleepOut is also set to take place on 28 July and pupils, parents and teachers are encouraged to spend a cold night outside to raise funds for a needy school of their choice.

Graeme Stephens, chief executive officer at Sun International, expressed excitement at once again being part of the successful event and highlighted the need for the initiative to extend beyond just involving business leaders.

“We need to make it broader and include senior corporates and future leaders of the country [through the support SleepOuts taking place],” he said.

Schools interested in taking part in the School SleepOut can visit the website to register and also need to identify an outreach school in need, learn about the items they need most and commit to gathering and delivering those items, making a difference to those in need.

The CEO SleepOut, in its second year, will see business leaders spend the night outside, along with a colleague, a student and a matric learner with notable leadership qualities, all in aid of education.
