FCF to help collect rubbish in the community

FOURWAYS - Future City Fourways (FCF) and its cleaning teams are collecting as many black rubbish bags in the area which have been left behind due to the recent Pikitup strikes.

Future City Fourways (FCF) teams are conducting a major clean-up to help collect as many black rubbish bags in the area which have been left behind due to the recent Pikitup strikes.

Jean Berdou, who is also a member of the FCF and chairperson of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) said, “The FCF and its cleaning teams have embarked upon the removal of extra refuse bags and garbage on the main routes of the greater Fourways area to help assist with a cleaner and more hygienic area.”

Berdou added that the FCF encouraged community members and businesses to assist with the removal of standing refuse to municipal refuse sites and landfills. “If your complex has wheelie bins that have not been emptied, there are a number of private operators helping to clear the backlog, but if you are struggling, contact Future City Fourways and we will give contact particulars for several of such private initiatives,” Berdou explained.

He added that the community needs to work together to ensure that the area is free from refuse which in parts of the city is fast-becoming a health hazard. He also called upon the community to once again work together during this time.

“The CPF and Metro police are also doing their bit to help protect the trucks [which are] collecting rubbish in the area,” Berdou concluded.
