Calling for help from equestrian community – Aggie needs you!

KYALAMI - An admired and loved member of the equestrian community in Kyalami, Agnes Phiri, was injured in a hit and run and needs financial assistance for specialised medical care.

Two weeks ago Agnes Phiri, a former GHS & KPC employee was hit by a car in a hit-and-run accident while waiting for a taxi near Fourways mall.

Phiri is an admired and loved member of the equestrian community in Kyalami. The incident occurred when she took her car in for a service, and while waiting for a taxi under the bridge near Fourways Mall, protecting herself from the rain, she was hit by an out of control car which has left her in a critical condition with her face severely disfigured and her right arm badly broken.

Kyalami Park Club’s Facebook page reported that, fortunately, the trauma unit at the Johannesburg General Hospital has done an incredible job of rebuilding Phiri’s face, but going forward she will need all the financial help she can get so that she can afford the very expensive creams and oils required to give her the best chance of getting her features back, as well as for physio-therapy for her hand.

The Hoggs, family friends to Phiri, have opened an account to raise money to help her with her healing journey.

The family sent a plea to the community to give up just one cappuccino a week, which costs R20, towards Phiri’s funds which will give her the chance to turn 40 in August with a smile she can be happy with.
